Today's readers imagine the Bible as a printed book or an electronic text in an app or online. For most of Christian history, however, Scripture circulated as manuscripts: unique, handwritten objects. This lecture offers a short journey into their world, focusing on New Testament texts, major artefacts, their discovery and intriguing details encountered in their study.
Peter Málik, MPhil, PhD., is a biblical scholar. He completed master's and doctoral studies at Peterhouse, University of Cambridge, specialising in New Testament manuscripts and philology. He works at the Department of Theology and Christian Education, Matej Bel University. Until recently, he co-investigated projects at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich on the paratextual content of Byzantine biblical manuscripts and at Kirchliche Hochschule Wuppertal, contributing to a critical edition of the Greek text of Revelation.
